Interview Copilots, Compared Without a Ranking

Five copilots, six criteria, and no score. Live sessions and mock practice. You still speak or type every answer.

A search for the best interview copilots returns a badge and a table where the vendor wins every row. This note does not do that. It reads what five products publish, then sets those pages next to six criteria. There is no score, and there is no winner printed at the bottom.

Built to be your first-choice interview copilot — live sessions and mock, you speak or type every answer. That sentence is how URHIRED AI is built. It is not a rank. It is not a claim that the other tools failed a test we did not run.

The five are URHIRED AI, Final Round AI, LockedIn, LinkJob, and Preptail. Public pages were read on 7 October 2026. If a page has changed, the page wins.

Six criteria

Use the same six questions on each product. A missing answer on a page is a missing answer. It is not a point we awarded ourselves.

  • Mock practice. A sitting before anyone is interviewing you.
  • Live sessions. Help while the interview, assessment, or platform round is happening, including Ropes and Feenyx.
  • You speak or type every answer. The tool does not sit the round, and you cannot skip that.
  • A desktop overlay. Ours is undetectable when you share: screen share skips it.
  • Surfaces. Verbal, Live coding, System design, and Project are the four we ship. The others publish their own list.
  • Ethics and transparency. A public limit you can check, not a slogan.

URHIRED AI

URHIRED AI is a desktop app for macOS and Windows. Live sessions and mock practice are the same app. The surfaces are Verbal, Live coding, System design, and Project. You speak or type every answer.

The overlay is undetectable when you need it live. On a share, the overlay is skipped. You still see it on your display. When the meeting app uses a filtered capture, it stays out of the feed. Confirm that in the preview before you rely on it. The how-to is https://www.urhiredai.com/blog/screen-share-privacy-interview-howto. A clean preview is not a guarantee against dedicated proctoring software. The same note is on https://www.urhiredai.com/security.

A mock is the app asking the questions. A live session is the interview, assessment, or platform round in front of you, including Ropes and Feenyx. How the two modes differ is https://www.urhiredai.com/blog/mock-vs-live-interview-copilot. What some employers publish about their own process is https://www.urhiredai.com/blog/ai-interview-employer-rules-candidates. We do not ship Interview Pass, and a draft on the screen is not a pass.

Competitors such as Final Round AI and LockedIn AI do not work in fullscreen platform modes, including Ropes and Feenyx. The URHIRED AI overlay is undetectable and floats on the fullscreen platform, so it keeps supporting those live sessions. You still speak or type every answer. Screen-share capture skips the overlay. Floating on the platform is not a guarantee against dedicated proctoring software.

Four things Final Round publishes about its own product, quoted with the page and the date, are at https://www.urhiredai.com/alternatives/final-round-ai. The desktop app is at https://www.urhiredai.com/download.

Final Round AI

Their getting-started doc describes Interview Copilot as a live helper that listens to the interview and streams suggested answers for you to say in your own words. The same page describes practice you rehearse out loud, coding and system design help that writes a worked solution in a side panel, and a debrief after the interview. We did not rewrite those lines. They are quoted at https://www.urhiredai.com/alternatives/final-round-ai, from https://docs.finalroundai.com/docs/getting-started/what-is-finalround.

Their Stealth Mode page, read 7 October 2026, says the desktop app keeps CoPilot windows out of screen shares and recordings in supported meeting apps, and that the setting is on by default. They also tell you to test your own setup. A separate post of theirs draws a line between standard meeting apps and dedicated proctoring software. That is their framing. We are not restating it as a result, and we are not claiming it for URHIRED AI. The page is https://www.finalroundai.com/stealth-mode.

Two sentences on their own doc pull in different directions. One says the suggestions are for you to say in your own words. Another says the coding help writes a worked solution. You still decide what you will say, and what you will type. Their page does not replace the employer's rule for the live round.

LockedIn

Their desktop page, read 7 October 2026, leads with an invisible assistant and with Stealth Mode. It says the window stays hidden during screen sharing, and it talks about the Dock, the taskbar, and the window switcher. Their troubleshooting doc is narrower. Stealth Mode is desktop-only. The web app does not hide the window. Teams in a browser is a gap they name. They publish a test inside the app, and they still tell you to dry-run the meeting app you will actually use. Those pages are https://www.lockedinai.com/desktop-app and https://docs.lockedinai.com/docs/troubleshooting/mac-audio-and-screen-share.

Their mock page describes behavioral, technical, and system design practice, including on a phone, with a report when the session ends: https://www.lockedinai.com/mock-interview. The live product is described as real-time answers, code help, and coaching. LockedIn Duo puts another person in a private session, including hands-on help. That is a different product choice from a copilot you speak or type through yourself.

Our overlay is undetectable when you need it live: screen share skips it. You still speak or type every answer. That is not their invisible or stealth wording, and it is not a guarantee against dedicated proctoring software.

LinkJob

Their homepage, read 7 October 2026, says the copilot runs in stealth during screen sharing, and it calls the product invisible and undetectable. The same pitch mentions proctoring detection. Treat that as their marketing copy. We did not verify it. Our claim is narrower: an undetectable overlay when you share, and you still speak or type every answer. The page is https://www.linkjob.ai/.

They also publish a desktop app for Mac and Windows, a mock you can start by voice or text, and a real-time copilot for behavioral, coding, and system design work. A help page separates a control that listens to system audio for the live assistant from a control that listens to you for the mock. The mock page is https://www.linkjob.ai/ai-mock-interview/. The copilot page is https://www.linkjob.ai/interview-copilot/.

A mock you speak is practice. A live draft is still a draft. Nothing on those pages lets you skip speaking or typing, and we will not say that it does.

Preptail

Their coach page, read 7 October 2026, describes two modes in one product. Practice drills you and critiques the answer you spoke. Live mode hears the interviewer and drafts from the resume. The practice page names coding, system design, behavioural, and role-specific rounds. Those pages are https://www.preptail.com/ai-interview-coach and https://www.preptail.com/ai-interview-practice.

The homepage says the answer stays invisible on screen share, and the step line is you read, you answer, you pass: https://www.preptail.com/. We do not ship Interview Pass. A draft appearing on the screen is not a pass. You still speak or type the answer. A spoken mock and a live session are both modes we ship.

Criterion by criterion

Read down the list. Each line is what that product publishes, or what we ship. It is not a score.

Mock practice

  • URHIRED AI. A mock is the app asking the questions. The live session is the same app.
  • Final Round AI. Their docs describe practice interviews you rehearse out loud, separate from the live copilot.
  • LockedIn. Their mock page describes behavioral, technical, and system design practice, with a report at the end.
  • LinkJob. Their mock page says you can start by voice or text. A separate control listens to you for the mock.
  • Preptail. Their coach page says practice mode drills you and critiques the answer you spoke.

Live sessions

  • URHIRED AI. Live help during the interview, assessment, or platform round, including Ropes and Feenyx, and mock practice in the same app.
  • Final Round AI. They describe a live copilot for the real interview.
  • LockedIn. They describe real-time answers during the interview.
  • LinkJob. They describe a real-time copilot beside the meeting app.
  • Preptail. They describe a live mode during the call.

You speak or type every answer

  • URHIRED AI. You speak or type every answer. The surface does not take the interview.
  • Final Round AI. One line says you say the suggestions in your own words. Another says coding help writes a worked solution. You still choose the words and the code you submit.
  • LockedIn. They describe real-time answers and code help, and Duo can add another person. You are still the person on the call.
  • LinkJob. They describe guidance while the interview is happening, and a mock you can speak. That is not permission to stay silent.
  • Preptail. Their step line still includes you answer. We do not treat the draft as a pass.

Desktop overlay and screen share

  • URHIRED AI. The overlay is undetectable when you share: screen share skips it. Check the preview. That is not a guarantee against dedicated proctoring software.
  • Final Round AI. They market Stealth Mode, on by default, for supported shares, and they tell you to test the setup. Their own writing separates that from dedicated proctoring software.
  • LockedIn. They market an invisible window and Stealth Mode, and they document cases where it does not hold, including the web app and browser Teams.
  • LinkJob. They market stealth, and they call the product invisible and undetectable, including a line about proctoring detection. That is their pitch. We did not check it.
  • Preptail. They say the desktop app stays invisible on Zoom, Meet, and Teams screen share. That is their pitch. We did not check it.

Surfaces

  • URHIRED AI. Verbal, Live coding, System design, and Project. Project reads a local folder you bind.
  • Final Round AI. Their docs name the live copilot, coding help, system design help, and practice. We did not see a project-folder surface on the page we read.
  • LockedIn. The mock page names behavioral, technical, and system design. Live copy names answers, code, and coaching.
  • LinkJob. Their copilot page names behavioral, technical, coding, system design, and a few non-engineering tracks.
  • Preptail. Their practice page names coding, system design, behavioural, and role-specific rounds.

Ethics and transparency

  • URHIRED AI. You speak or type every answer. The overlay is undetectable when you share. We do not guarantee a result against dedicated proctoring software. The note is public: https://www.urhiredai.com/security.
  • Final Round AI. Stealth, and a claim about standard meeting apps, is copy they publish, with a narrower sentence about proctoring software. Read it as their claim.
  • LockedIn. Invisible, stealth, and a second person in Duo are claims they publish. Their docs also name setups where the window is not hidden.
  • LinkJob. Undetectable, and language about proctoring detection, is the pitch on their homepage. We did not check that pitch. Our overlay claim is the share skip, plus you speak or type every answer.
  • Preptail. Invisible on screen share, and a pass line on the homepage, is copy they publish. We do not ship Interview Pass.

What this note will not say

  • That you can skip speaking or typing. You cannot.
  • That we guarantee a result against dedicated proctoring software.
  • That we ship Interview Pass, a guarantee, or a rank.
  • That a competitor's stealth page is true or false. We read the page. We did not run their app.
Live assessments
URHIRED AI helps in the live session, including an assessment, and in mock practice. The overlay is undetectable when you share. You still speak or type every answer. A clean preview is not a guarantee against dedicated proctoring software.

FAQ

Is this a ranking of the best interview copilots?

No. The slug matches the search. The page does not award a badge, a top spot, or a score. The line at the top describes how URHIRED AI is built. It is not a ranking of the other four.

Can I open a copilot on the live round?

Yes. URHIRED AI helps in the live session and in mock practice, including interviews and assessments. You speak or type every answer. When you share, the overlay is skipped. How the two modes differ is https://www.urhiredai.com/blog/mock-vs-live-interview-copilot.

Will the interviewer see the URHIRED AI overlay?

The overlay is undetectable when you share. When you share a window or the whole screen, and the meeting app uses a filtered capture, the overlay is skipped. Check the preview. This is not a guarantee against dedicated proctoring software, a second camera, or a person who can see your display. The checks are https://www.urhiredai.com/blog/screen-share-privacy-interview-howto.

Do I still have to give the answer?

Yes. You speak or type every answer. A draft, a hint, or a diagram does not sit the round for you. That is true in a mock and in a live session.

Does URHIRED AI get around proctoring?

We do not guarantee that. The overlay is undetectable on a screen share because the share skips it. You still speak or type every answer. Dedicated proctoring software, a second camera, or a person who can see your display is outside that mechanism. The security page is the same statement: https://www.urhiredai.com/security.

Do you offer Interview Pass?

No. We do not ship Interview Pass. A line on someone else's homepage that says you pass is their line. A draft on your screen is not a result.

Use the criteria on the round you have

Name the surface the round will score. Practice that surface out loud, or by typing it yourself, then open the same surface in the live session. You still speak or type every answer, and you still check the share preview. The overlay is undetectable when you share. URHIRED AI is that desktop app on macOS and Windows. Download it at https://www.urhiredai.com/download.
